Throughout my life, I’ve always considered that where I am physically present is where I want to be.
Unlike people, such as Woody Allen, who has said, “When I am in Paris, I want to be in New York, and when I'm in New York, I'd like to be in Paris,” I've never felt that way.
I've also never wished to be with somebody that I was not with, nor did I ever wish for anything that I didn't have. For instance, when it comes to finances, I believe that money is just oil to run the works smoothly. However, if one has to live in a barrel, then one simply lives in a barrel.
Consider credit cards, those stupid little bits of plastic that can either make or break a person's life. People are always seeking a way to simplify and add convenience to their lives, as if credit cards are some sort of divine result. The reality is that this lifestyle is extremely fragile. Anything, like an electromagnetic pulse, has the potential to disrupt this convenient lifestyle. In this instance, credit cards, the internet, or any other such conveniences would no longer work.
So, where would one prefer to reside?
Well, if forced at gunpoint to decide, I'd rather live in Montecalvello, Italy than elsewhere. Yes, the castle is over 1200 years old, and it has its inconveniences, such as extreme discomfort and the insanely high cost of heating it during the winter months.
