My Experience with Filmmaker Kenneth Anger and France's Greatest Singer Edith Piaf.
An Excerpt From My Memoirs
With Danielle Gaubert, the young star of Marcel Carné’s Terrain Vague whom I courted assiduously, I was approached at a party by Kenneth Anger, the brilliant underground filmmaker and notorious author of the Hollywood Babylon books.
Kenneth asked us both to appear in the Story of O, which he was about to begin. Danielle, who came from a very straight petit bourgeois background, was of course unacquainted with the famous erotic classic and wanted to know the story.
I told her I’d give her the book to read. Subsequently, we read one day in the papers that the police had raided Kenneth’s set and arrested the actors, who turned out to have been the kidnappers of the young Peugeot child.
